Wyoming and Buffalo Bill State Park

Driving and driving and driving...
The gas station that saved us...
The view from the gas station.
Snow!!!

Beautiful view across from the snow.
Just a little road construction.

Abraham loves driving through tunnels!

We loved camping at Buffalo Bill State Park!

South Dakota-- The Badlands, Custer State Park, and the Black Hills

We traveled through South Dakota fairly quickly, and were able to see a lot of sites.  We went to the Badlands, camped at Custer State Park, and drove through part of the Black Hills.
We left the covered wagon site early, trying to beat a big storm.  We only got a little wet.
So excited to find the world's largest pheasant!
And Mike was excited to find donuts.
Driving through South Dakota.

Day 2 (Destination: South Dakota)

We drove through Wisconsin, Minnesota, and into South Dakota. We picked up a new traveling companion, crossed the Mississippi, saw lots of wind turbines, traveled down dirt roads, and we're going to sleep in a covered wagon tonight! Oh, and we also discovered that frosted animal cookies are an excellent source of calcium. Unfortunately it looks like the pictures are out of order... Not sure why. Oh well!

Day 1, continued

We planned to leave at 9:00, we actually left at 1:00...  Not bad for us. Poor Huck could tell something was going on, and he didn't seem to like it. Abraham kept saying, "We left Huckie at home!"

Highlights of the day-- driving through Chicago during rush hour, finding the cutest little train station when Abraham had to go potty, and picnicking and playing at a fun little park.

Ten summers ago these two headed west, to California...

Today, ten years older and ten years wiser, they headed west again, this time with this little guy...

Stay tuned for more updates on the great adventure.
